Parish Plan and Village Design Statement
Parish Plan
The East Woodhay Parish Plan is the result of time given by a team of local people and the services of the Greenham Common Trust. The conclusions drawn from the completed questionnaires have led to action points under key headings, some of which can and have been taken up by enthusiastic volunteers, such as our thriving Village Market. Others will guide the parish council, and/or require the support and finances of our local authorities.
The Plan also complements the East Woodhay Village Design Statement that is relevant when responding to planning applications.
Most of the issues are not new but have become more important with the growth of the population, bringing increased pressure on the infrastructure of our rural parish.

East Woodhay & Woolton Hill Society
At the launch of the Parish Plan, there was considerable support for launching a Village or Parish society. There is now a small committee forming such a Society, with the aim of working with the Parish Council to take forward some elements of the Plan, promote social activities and promote a community spirit while helping to preserve and improve the environment.

Village Design Statement
What is a village design statement?
It is a document to record the features that are seen by the local community as contributing to the distinctiveness of Woolton Hill and the East Woodhay Hamlets.
The Village Design Statement (VDS) is produced by residents, not the Parish Council, after widespread consultation.
It reflects local opinion about a number of aspects including the built environment, the natural environment, views and open spaces, commercial facilities and recreational facilities of East Woodhay Parish as a whole.
Using text and pictures, it records the important features which should be maintained or enhanced.
It provides guidelines to support the planning process by assisting property owners, the Parish Council, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, utility companies, and potential developers to maintain or enhance the distinctiveness of Woolton Hill and the East Woodhay Hamlets by making informed decisions.
This Village Design Statement was adopted by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council on 15th December 2005 as informal planning and design guidance, pursuant to Objective 8 of the Basingstoke and Deane Local Plan Review.
